I have struggled with various illnesses since I was a young child. I have a low immune system and sicknesses that would be mild in most people caused me to spend much time in hospitals running fevers and having seizures.

As an adult, I found out that I had cancer, which was devastating. After having surgery, I thankfully went into remission. At another point, the seizure medication began to take my eyesight and cause the part of my brain that enables me to sense hot and cold to shut down, which was life-threatening. I had to stop the medication. I was praying consistently and changed my diet. Praise God, I am happy to say my seizures have stopped and my eyesight is almost back to normal!

Now, life has hit again.

At the time of writing this (2021) I have large masses on my ovaries. I do not yet know if it is cancer. I sit in the tension of the unknown and lean into prayer, meditation, and my faith in God.  Through it all, I have kept my faith, but it wasn’t always easy to do.

I have prayers written down and scattered on the walls throughout my home, both for others and myself. In the midst of the unknown, I feel a sense of peace that I can’t explain. Even though my faith is as small as a mustard seed, it’s all God needs to move a mountain if that’s what He desires.

If you are waiting in the unknown, there is hope. Life is never perfect and there will be struggles. If God can heal my sense of temperature, take away my seizures and restore my sight, He can do anything for you as well. It doesn’t mean the battle is easy, it just means He is with us. If you have the faith of a mustard seed all things are possible.

My encouragement to you is to take one day and one second at a time.

Everything in life has a blessing, even the hard times. Stay in consistent prayer and when you feel like you are losing faith, try writing down your blessings and what God has already gotten you through.

God loves us. Sometimes He allows us into deep waters that are out of our comfort zone. If we stay in the same, shallow spot we can’t get closer to our calling.

It is ok to be different from others.

That is what makes you the unique and wonderful person you are! ~Dominique

I have known Dominique for 5 years and I deeply love her, this young lady is an inspiration and motivation to keep smile on and of hope. She always loves people to the fullest and will help anyone in need even when she is sick and at hospital, she will call someone (me) and Say please go to so and so homes. Dominique is an exceptional woman that only fears the Lord. All her illness never kept her from doing what her heart desires. She became a CNA, now going back to college to pursue something that will help her have her own business along side of her husband Aaron. Thank you Dominique for being you and for staying strong. I love and I’m proud of you.
