Meet the Team

Denisha Workizer
Founder, President

Denisha founded this organization because she has an extraordinary Reclaimed Story of her own. She offers a transparent look into her life as she experienced sexual, spiritual, and emotional abuse–and discovering, as an adult, that she survived her mother’s abortion.

She began reclaiming her story in her early twenties when she met Jesus. Her love of people and relentless optimism brings hope to others, which excites and energizes her.

She is qualified to help others, not because she has it all figured out, but because she is processing life along with them. She has a crazy broken story that is in the hands of our redemptive God, and she wants to lead others to Him.

Denisha worked for twenty years in professional leadership and corporate management before becoming a pastor. She served as a pastor for ten years and most recently followed her calling to help other women “Reclaim” their story.

In addition to Founding Reclaimed Story in 2019, Denisha is an Ordained Pastor, a professional speaker with Ambassador Speakers Bureau, a Certified Trauma-Informed Coach.

In 2022, Denisha was honored to be included in Marquis, Who’s Who of America. In 2023, she was featured in the 13th Edition of Millennium Magazine. Inclusion in which is limited to individuals who possess professional integrity, demonstrate outstanding achievement in their respective fields and have made innumerable contributions to society as a whole.

“This is our hope, to point you to the only One who can reclaim your story and empower you to live the life you were created to live.”

“I can clearly see how my entire journey thus far, even the smallest experiences and seemingly unrelated chapters has led to Reclaimed Story. This call from God humbles me, and I am thrilled to become part of such a life giving ministry. May God bless the community of reclaimers for His glory.”

Nancy Nelson
Director of Operations

Nancy joined Reclaimed Story in 2020 after serving in ministry as an Event Director and Executive Assistant on the staff of Casas Church in Tucson, Arizona, for twenty-eight years. She is known for bringing clarity to complexity, being a problem-solver, giving wise advice, and for her wit.

Nancy accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was a teenager. She is inspired by recognizing how God’s plans for her in every stage of life have led her to this moment.

Before being called into ministry, Nancy was employed in the technology industry and has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Arizona. She also helped organize fundraising events for Hands of Hope Tucson and has served briefly as their interim Executive Director.

Valerie McMahon
Content and Ministry Coordinator

Valerie’s journey with Reclaimed Story began in 2020 at a gas station parking lot! A conversation with Denisha about how God was leading both of them to help women heal from their past led to Valerie joining the team as a Content and Ministry Coordinator.

Valerie is an inspirational writer, speaker, published author, and Biblical Life Coach who loves to encourage women to know the truth of who they are through the truth of who God is–the truth that can set them free.

With the strong foundation of being raised in a Christian home and a rich background of experience in missions, youth ministry, women’s ministry, and spiritual mentoring, Valerie teaches the Bible in a relatable way.

She is known for her compassion, encouragement, approachability, and her awesome spoken word poetry. Valerie is such a great addition to this team!

“Your story spotlights God’s Glory.”

“You are abundantly loved and valued by God.”

Jenni Johnson
Customer Experience Coordinator

Jenni became a part of the Reclaimed Story team in 2021after volunteering and working in the children’s ministry of a megachurch for 20 years. She led a childcare ministry that served every department in the church and organized Sunday morning volunteers for the preschool and children’s ministries.

She accepted Christ in her early college years and has experienced His life-changing power, guidance, and unconditional love throughout her life. She has a tremendous heart for the hurting and a true love and compassion for people. She shares her own struggles openly to help bring victory to other women and is a prayer warrior.

Jenni has held a ladies’ Bible study in her home for decades. She is dependable, hard-working, delightful to be around, and prefers to serve behind the scenes. If you ask us, she is all that and amazing!

Lori Rogers
Director of Leadership Development

Ministry, and most especially ministry to women, has been a passion of mine most of my life. As a young girl growing up in the church, I didn’t know I could aspire to lead or pastor as a woman. But as God would have it, His plans for me were just that. He led me into the ministry and eventually into positions of leadership. I have continued to go/grow from there.

I feel that women are an untapped force in ministry. Women have unique giftings and talents and are ready to serve, giving their whole hearts wherever the Lord calls them. But in a world that also uniquely challenges women, it is important that women have a place to grow and face tough times with love and compassion. They also need a place to find healing when times get hard.

I have had many jobs in my life, including co-owning a business, before I spent 19 years on the staff at Casas Church, where I was ordained as a pastor and served in various ministry roles. Much of that time was spent leading women, from small groups to large events and everything in between. My goal was to make a space where women could grow, face hard issues, and learn their identity and value in Christ in a safe, honest, and grace-filled environment.

Reclaimed Story is a continuation of all my values to see women rise to their potential, cultivating fulfilling lives and developing leadership skills. So, I guess I cannot be too surprised that the Lord has led me to Reclaimed Story at this time of my life.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

Hebrews 10:24
