The Next Right Step

by | Dec 3, 2019

Do you ever find it hard to make a decision?

Sometimes, we so badly want to do the right thing or make it perfect that we overthink things and get stuck not knowing what to do next. Some call that “analysis paralysis”. Have you ever been there?

I sure have. In fact, I was there when we started this blog.

It took me nine months to purchase the domain name Reclaimed Story and then it took us six months to publish content and go live.

The month we went live, I was praying about what charity we would support. God answered that prayer in a huge way.

It was January of 2019 that I found out my mom had a DNC abortion while she was pregnant with me, and I survived it. That knowledge rocked my world and yet gave me direction. Read more about that here.

After that, my heart was fixed on helping women Reclaim their Story after having an abortion. Whether that abortion happened 3 days ago or 30 years ago, I believe that there is emotional & spiritual healing through Christ.

Why stop there?

All of this landed at the same time that Reclaimed Story is developing a podcast, recording interviews, and launching a merchandise line. Our heart is to reach more people with the gospel and encourage them to Reclaim their Story through a vibrant life with Christ.

That was only the beginning.

Fast forward to October. My friend Mara calls and invites Alicia, our friend Tiffany, and me over to her house. We sit down at her dining room table.

Mara begins with, “23 years ago, abortion affected my life.” As she shared her story, tears filled my eyes. You see, Mara didn’t know what God was stirring in my heart. She knew Alicia and I had a blog but had no idea that I was an abortion survivor or that I had a heart for moms who had experienced one.

She continued her story, “15 years ago, God gave me a dream to start a pregnancy resource center. Recently, He told me it was time to take action. I prayed and asked Him to show me the next step. He led me to invite the three of you here tonight. Now… tell me why you all are here.”~cue mic drop!

At this moment, my heart is pounding, tears are filling my eyes. I knew exactly why I was there. Turned out Tiffany had been studying to be a childbirth educator and doula. Alicia was writing a curriculum to help women who had trauma and addiction in their lives. I had just filmed a TV show sharing the story of my mom’s abortion.

We were all there for a reason… to take the next right step.

God was way ahead of us. You see, He had provided Mara and her family with 1000 square feet of office space that would be perfect for a Pregnancy Resource Center.

This is the future site of that Pregnancy Resource Center.

Our dream is to offer pregnancy resources as well as abortion recovery classes, parenting classes, and mentoring for new moms for the first five years of their child’s life.

This is what the inside looks like now.

But there is SO much potential!

It would be very easy for us to get analysis paralysis! What should we do first?

The next right step.

In order to help more people Reclaim their Story, as well as begin the project of opening the Pregnancy Center, there is a lot of infrastructures to put into place.

We definitely can’t do this alone. The next right step is to pray and bring in partners to help.

One way you can partner with us is through prayer. Mountains can be moved through prayer! We would appreciate your prayer support so very much.

Another way to partner with us is through financial partnerships. Reclaimed Story is an Arizona Non-Profit Corporation set up to help empower people to discover restoration in all areas of their lives through Christ.

One of the main things we want people to know as they Reclaim their Story is that they are significant to God. When we understand who we are in Christ, that is a game-changer.

This is my first time to read about Reclaimed Story and your story. I am so touched. I love seeing how God makes beauty from ashes. After years of infertility, God led me to adopt and I thank the Lord every day those mothers made the tough choice to keep their babies alive and put them up for adoption. My home, my life and my heart wouldn’t be full without them.
