What God Can Do

by | Jun 23, 2021

One of the most comforting characteristics of God as our Heavenly Father is His faithfulness.

As humans, we try and we fail. We make promises and then we break them. We think we are strong enough and then we fall short once again. We worry when we should trust. We do what we shouldn’t do and we fail to do what we should.

But thankfully, God is not like that. God always keeps His promises. His strength is perfect in our weakness. His love never fails. His mercy is new every morning. His grace is always sufficient.

His heart for us is that we would lay our burdens at His feet for Him to take care of. But, will we let Him?

As you read the poem below I pray that you will take hold of the truth, hope, comfort, and confidence that our Father God is more than able to do what we can’t do.

God Can

By Valerie L. McMahon

When I am deep in doubt and flanked with fear,

Wound tightly with worry,

Drowning in tears,

I often cry out:

I dont know what to do!”

While my me-centered megaphone is what my worry is amplified through.

But, when I shift my thinking to what God can do,

Lifting every prayer and petition up to His throne,

Releases a protective peace over my worried heart that transcends every fear I have ever known.

So, what does the Holy Word say God can do?

He sent a plague that turned the Nile River blood red.

The hem of his robe healed a woman who bled.

He raised to life Jairussleeping daughter.

His disciples witnessed Him walking on water.

He turned water into wine and used mud to heal the blind.

He spoke peace to a storm and the wind and waves obeyed.

He called his friend Lazarus out from his grave.

What can God do?

He makes the impossible POSSIBLE.

He EQUIPS the incapable.

He COMFORTS the weeping.

He WELCOMES home the wandering.

He RAISES the dead.

He TRANSFORMS the thoughts in our heads.

He CALLS us by name.

He is YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER the same.

God can do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, so surrender and pray,

LORD, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
