The God Who Sees You: When You Feel Invisible

Have you ever felt invisible?

Perhaps your days are filled with noise, packing backpacks, navigating sibling fights, and juggling everything to keep your household running smoothly. Or maybe your days are marked by silence, empty rooms, quiet meals, and a quiet ache you’re not sure how to name.

No matter your season, that feeling is real: Does anyone truly see me?

I recently shared a message about a woman in Scripture who felt just like that; her name was Hagar. She was used, mistreated, overlooked, and cast out. But her story changed everything when she encountered El Roi, the God who sees.

What struck me is that Hagar wasn’t looking for God… but He was looking for her.

In the middle of a desert, pregnant, alone, and afraid, God met her. He called her by name, not by her role, not by her label, not by her shame. And in that moment, Hagar said something profound: “You are the God who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)

Not just the God who sees, but the God who sees me. Friend, He sees you, too.

He sees you in the midnight Target runs and the forgotten library books.

He sees you in the grocery store meltdown when your child picks that moment to test every bit of your patience.

He sees you when your home is empty and your prayers feel unanswered.

He sees you when your heart quietly wonders, does it even matter?

And He doesn’t just see you, He acts on what He sees. He pursues. He comforts. He promises hope.

You are part of His story, not for what you do, but for who you are. So, whether your hands are full or your heart is heavy, be reminded today:

You are not invisible. You are not forgotten. You are seen by the God who knows your name.

Take a moment to pause. Look in the mirror and ask, “God, would You show me how You see me?” Because what He sees in you is gold. And when we begin to see ourselves through His eyes, we not only find peace, but we begin to see others that way too. Let’s be women who call out the gold in ourselves and each other.

You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved.
